Eaton Mall VR Model

The benefits of a blank slate… As part of revitalising Oakleigh, the City of Monash is undertaking works to develop Eaton Mall into a vibrant, activity-filled public space. To communicate some of the benefits of the works, ASPECT Studios supplied to Council a VR Model of the mall as a blank slate. We built a virtual Mall, with the existing built form but without the urban and landscape design elements that currently clog it up. Using a library of 3D objects, Council is using the model to populate the scene and investigate possible design scenarios. These scenarios can demonstrate how a greater feeling of space can be achieved by removing large elements that are cluttering the area. Eaton Mall is an important part of Oakleigh as it is the central area where the public can congregate and access the nearby train station. The virtual is helping a better Mall take shape.
