Rhodes Lot 8 Tandara

The landscape design for the communal courtyard at Rhodes Lot 8 Tandara works with unusual site geometry to create a seamless series of courtyard spaces.

Interconnected pathways link private courtyards to entrance lobbies and create an intricate overlay of small communal spaces. Two tree species, selected to provide a strong visual aesthetic and scale, as well as providing a screen for surrounding apartments, are used in groves and clusters.

Smooth-leaved Quandongs (Elaeocarpus eumundii) are planted in dense groups and Rough Tree Ferns (Cyathea australis) are located in the heart of the space. These tree ferns with their distinctive foliage and colour provide a beautiful pattern of shadow and light.

Materials are used to enhance the distinctive feel of the spaces. Permeable paving allows for water infiltration into deep soil areas. Custom timber furniture is integrated into planter walls, providing a variety of areas for rest and respite.
