The Victorian Desalination Project is a state significant, large scale infrastructure project which will deliver up to 150 billion litres of water to Melbourne, Geelong and via other connections, South Gippsland and Western Port towns. ASPECT Studios, working with architects (ARM and peckvonhartel), PB / Beca and ecologists, will deliver the urban design and landscape architectural services for the project.
The design establishes a new level of quality in infrastructure projects in Australia. A new coastal park is being established using leading edge revegetation techniques and the largest living green roof in Australia will grace the main building.
ASPECT Studios played a key role in the production of a design that contributed to the overall winning bid scheme.
The quality of the design has been commended by the Victorian State Architect’s office, DSE and other government entities. It was stated that the design outcome provided a unique and ecologically sensitive approach to a major piece of infrastructure on Victoria’s coastline.
